I just heard from KarenInDC and she is at the Code Pink rally in DC and completely unable to make a crowd estimate but CNN has helicopters overhead.
Karen is in a sea of pink - pink balloons, pink banners, pink flags, pink signs - from all over the US. They are headed later to the Washington Monument but right now they are being lined up inside a big square - of coffins. I could hear shouts of "Stop the War!"
PM Update:
See the photos, especially the aerial one where they spelled out words!

Karen will post when she gets an opportunity, with photos. Code Pink are holding 24 hour vigil outside the White House, joined by Cindy Sheehan, Patch Adams, Susan Sarandon.
As Cindy Sheehan has pointed out, Julia Ward Howe, the author of the Battle Hymn of the Republic, was so horrified with the carnage of the Civil War that she advocated for a Mother's Day of Peace. By 1873, 18 cities celebrated Mother's Day of Peace celebrations - some of these celebrations continued for 30 years. We have the enduring legacy of Mother's Day.
Hundreds of thousands of marched in the streets of New York City for Peace, Justice and Democracy on April 29th. The November elections are coming up and we must use our leverage. VotersForPeace is a project of Gold Star Families for Peace, Democracy Rising, Peace Action, Code Pink, UFPJ, and more.

It's late now in DC - they had a beautiful moonrise, Karen & friends have gone for a pizza run but will be back to spend the night & she could hear women singing near the White House. We aren't finding much media coverage - Australia, yes. What about America? Maybe CNN & their helicopter are waiting til tomorrow, to make it timely for Mother's Day. We can hope.
